WWTBAM Bored

So it's Election Day. I'm less than a week from surgery, unsteady on my feet, it's raining kinda hard, and there have been news reports all day of computer foul ups and long lines at precincts. It's kind of stunning, since the Congress race is pretty much uncontested. About the only races of general interest on the ballot are the sheriff race and the state legislature.

So I want to go and vote. I'm mad at myself for not voting before the surgery, but I'll be even madder if I slip and fall and throw off my recovery.

I've got an hour or so to decide. Don't worry, Wendy won't let me do anything too stupid.

Went by the polling place, walked in, four people in line. Would have gotten in and out a lot quicker, but managed to draw the 102 year old election judge. I swear I thought I was dealing with Tim Conway. Wendy gave me a funny look, but I just smiled.

Reason for the trip is teachers are trying to turn out as many voters as possible to try to register our displeasure with what the state has done, and continues to do, to our chosen career. If we can pull off a few more upsets like we did two years ago, maybe the powers that be will start to take a little more notice.

Interesting snippet overheard while waiting in line: "yes, the license branch has been terrible this year about updating the database of addresses. You'll still be allowed to vote, but you'll have to vote at your old address." We have anywhere voting, so they didn't have to leave the building, but the ballot they saw was not the one they were expecting. That might be a nice, juicy lawsuit if there were any way to prove the license branch has been dragging their feet on updating.

I saw where Mitch McConnell has already been declared the winner in Kentucky. That was not a surprise here, especially since th Dem national committee pulled out several weeks ago. I foresee lots of vetoes over the next two years, y'all.
