Oh, those Swedes!

We've had very few Tricks or Treaters this year -- a couple of Ninja Warriors, a couple ghouls, three princesses, a kitty, and an orange bumblebee. I guess they all went to the party at the mall or downtown. Oh well. Anybody like Laffy Taffy, Wonka Nerds, Bottle Caps, or SweetTarts?

OK, add a medieval knight, another princess, a pirate, a cowgirl, and the loveliest ballerina I've seen in a long time.

Nice sound effect!

And another Ninja, an angel, a vampire, a nerd (she was great!), another princess, another kitty, and two more I can't remember -- those eight all showed up in a bunch.

And Darth Vader and a Desert Storm soldier.

And a Blue Man, another vampire, and another kitty.

We had about 60 kids - we had 58 candy bars and I had quarters in wait, just in case we ran out before we saw all the neighbors.

One of the chatty and exuberant little boys down the street was a mime. I asked his mom how it was going. She said surprisingly well. But we were only their third house.

My favorite was The Flowerpot. I WISH I'd taken a picture.

A girl, about 11 or 12. Brown leggings, one of those large plastic bins (purple) from her hips to her waist, artificial flowers all around the top of the bucket and her top.

Boonie saw her grandfather today at Wawa and we found out the secret of the construction. The inside of the barrel, where it was cut so she could walk, was hot-glued with burlap and cloth straps were attached. The straps went under her top and the top, with the flowers went on. So the whole thing looked seamless. It was pretty lightweight, he said. They ended up going with crumpled green tissue instead of the green foam flower stuff to make it lighter.

My other favorites were Mo'ne Davis - a Taney tee shirt, baseball pants and a braided switch. And her brother and their next-door neighbor, who were Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed.

This has been one of my fav threads for a while, I must say. Its good to hear that the kids are still into Halloween. And not all dressing as pop stars or zombies or whatever.

Halloween was my Dad's birthday. And he always took us out trick-or-treating, never said "the heck with this, its my birthday". So now, of course, since he died he day before his birthday (he'd wanted to be walking without pain on his new knee for his birthday, not dead from the aftereffects of the operation) it makes me sad.

That is sad, Ghost. It must have been great fun, though, to have Halloween as a birthday. He was a good dad.
