No April Fool's joke.
That's what I paid at an Exxon station on the way back home from Bennigan's.

That's cheap!Bob Juch wrote:No April Fool's joke.

We don't usually see the prices expressed as 3-digit decimals, but that 9/10 cent pricing is so common that we don't even notice it any more. Just as the oil companies want!silvercamaro wrote:Apart from the oddity of the 3-digit decimal, I wasn't sure whether Bob was complaining or bragging.
And it's even more amazing to think that New Jersey is one of only two states that still mandate full-service gas pumps!peacock2121 wrote:He was bragging.
I think Oregon is the other - I should look that up, and I'm not gonna.MarleysGh0st wrote:And it's even more amazing to think that New Jersey is one of only two states that still mandate full-service gas pumps!peacock2121 wrote:He was bragging.
It's a "safety issue," although I've failed to notice the plague of customers accidentally incinerating themselves at self-serve pumps in the other 48.
You're right. I think that's been a WWTBAM question before.peacock2121 wrote:I think Oregon is the other - I should look that up, and I'm not gonna.MarleysGh0st wrote:And it's even more amazing to think that New Jersey is one of only two states that still mandate full-service gas pumps!peacock2121 wrote:He was bragging.

Really? I can usually get it for $3.169 without any discounts.peacock2121 wrote:He was bragging.
I get 15 cents off a gallon by using a Stop and Shop coupon thingie and I can't get it for less than $3.15 these days.
No need. It is indeed Oregon.peacock2121 wrote:I think Oregon is the other - I should look that up, and I'm not gonna.MarleysGh0st wrote:And it's even more amazing to think that New Jersey is one of only two states that still mandate full-service gas pumps!peacock2121 wrote:He was bragging.

That's about what it costs here in town. I figure I'm saving enough by buying gas in New Brunswick to pay for the trip there.Jeemie wrote:Really? I can usually get it for $3.169 without any discounts.peacock2121 wrote:He was bragging.

There's a town real close to here that has several gas stations that are always 6-10 cents cheaper than everyone else.
Have never figured out why.
Yep, I grew up on a farm and never had any idea what the price of gas was. We had our own tanks of gasoline and diesel. I didn't buy gas at a gas station until I was about 20 years old.Spock wrote:I seldom have any idea what the gas price is.
I have 250 gallon tank at home that is now monitored remotely and is filled as needed. I get a monthly bill on our usage. Gas and home heating has been running me $1,500 to $2,000 a month this winter. We live in an old house with very little insulation and I drive a LOT!!!!
Until last fall-I had to order gas as needed and pay for the tank. I like this way better as I pay the monthly average price.
I paid 3.24 last week when I was on the road.
I view the main advantage of having a gas tank at home (besides convenience) as sort of a Y2K stash thingie. If something really bad happens-ie nuclear explosion somewhere-odds are I will have a few hundred gallons of gas on hand and that will provide me some flexibilty and options if needed.
