Mr. Marley, I told Mr. little about an unpleasant incident that took place the night before last.

Me and my sister were trying to learn a foreign language. That alien astronaut from Planet Possum landed on our back fence, so me and BeBe talked to him in Dog, but really loud, so he could understand us. He spoke back to us in Alienese. We were just about to find out what "Hissss hiss screee" meant, when my mom came outside and said something in MadMom: "Stop barking. I mean it! It's after midnight, and the neighbors might like to sleep." (If her speech included any swear words, I have left them out. I'm not saying there were any swear words, but it wouldn't surprise me, if you know what I mean.)

Then she saw the alien astronaut and got a crazy look in her eyes. (Maybe not crazy. Maybe thoughtful but disturbed.) She grabbed a shovel to push the alien and his spaceship off the fence to the yard behind us. I guess she thought we would stop making noise if we couldn't see him. As if. She did not shove him off, though. Instead she poked the fence and made it shake, which scared him, so he ran farther down. She did that about three more times before he ran far enough to climb up into a tree. Strangely enough, when we couldn't see him any more in the leafy branches, we stopped making noise.

Remember that Twilight Zone episode where the old hillbilly lady comes out with a broom to take on the tiny alien astronaut on her front porch? That's exactly what my mom looked like, crazy eyes -- I mean, thoughtful but disturbed eyes -- and all.

Me and BeBe never did learn any new conversational phrases in the alien's home tongue, so we hope he comes back again soon. We like to learn stuff.

I hope he comes back soon, too, but it may be a long round-trip to Planet Possum.

I am kinda with suitguy that one would think the White Hot Glare would have made use of the broom moot.

Upon reflection I have concluded that SC takes to heart the admonition that with great power comes great responsibility and that she was too kindhearted to unleash TWHG upon a mere possum when a broom would be adequate.
