The Chase auditions

#1 Post by gsabc » Thu Oct 09, 2014 2:57 pm

Just got a call from a contestant coordinator for The Chase. Apparently, I should have gotten a quick e-mail back from them after signing up a while ago. I'm schedule to audition on Saturday. They're also looking for teams of three people to audition together. Anyone else scheduled for 3 PM in Boston? Any helpful hints?
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Good luck! If it's the same contestant coordinators as earlier in the year, they are very nice and make the process endurable. If they use the same process and you pass the first two hurdles, they will call you that night to come in the next day for an on-camera interview. So be prepared to put in two days instead of one. I had to go back on Easter Sunday. They called while I was at Saturday night Easter Vigil mass. Someone remind me NEVER to go to Saturday Easter mass again—it lasted 2.5 hours! WTF?

Anyway. If you do get called back, be prepared to be up half of Saturday night filling out a crapload of e-paperwork. Also, not so much the first day, but in the one-on-one, they reeealllly want you to be able to say what makes you a smarty-pants trivia expert.

Good luck!

Love,
Catfish

I auditioned in L.A. on Sunday and had my callback today. There was a man there who I thought was Bob Boden and I was right, he's the Executive Producer. I don't have any other tips except the standard game show audition advice - bring lots of energy and have fun with it.

They call it a vigil for a reason.

Go get 'em. This show wasn't even on my radar, & now I've missed a Boston audition. Oh well. Go get 'em!

Thanks, all. I'll work on the energy. Right now, the new job is the proverbial drinking from a fire hose. There's an incredible amount of process and procedure to learn. But I'm going to make this work. To all appearances, this is an incredibly good place to work. Lots of perks that aren't advertised - fresh, organic fruit delivered to the breakroom every week; the ability to buy anything they sell at cost with no shipping fee; willingness to buy whatever office supplies you want; very approachable upper management (just yesterday, the CFO dropped by out of the blue to see how things were going). I just wish I'd found this place ten years ago, or even twenty. I might have kept some of my hair.

Love,
That was pretty much the process when I auditioned last year.

Didn't even jump the first hurdle. Either the passing grade was very high (pretty sure lowest possible score was 42 of 50, high probably 45; only one complete whiff out of the set), or I just have a good face for radio. Could be both. They're not mutually exclusive.

Ah well, I took my shot. At least I'm still eligible to take the J! test in January.

I prefer to think the passing grade was ridiculously high. I made lemonade. On the way home today I met a friend in the southern part of the state for breakfast, and then hit a state park for some mountain biking. Who knows when I'll be "down south" again.

The last time I tried out I got through all the hurdles (well, except for the one where you actually get called to be on the show), and I'm pretty sure I didn't get any more right on the test.
