Yesterday's Packers-Bears game, won by Green Bay 38-17, was only the second game in NFL history without a punt by either side. Green Bay had seven possessions in the game, ending with five touchdowns, a field goal, and a missed field goal. The Bears had eight possessions, ending in two touchdowns, a field goal, the ends of both halves, a turnover on downs, and two interceptions. The only other such game was a 1992 meeting between San Francisco and Buffalo.

I wonder if someday it will be a punter who breaks the record for most consecutive games played. --Bob

There was a playoff game with no punts on January 11, 2004:

Punter Hunter Smith, who did not kick last week, again wasn't needed. Manning, James (24 rushes for 125 yards) and Reggie Wayne (six catches, 83 yards) made sure of that.
It was the first time in NFL history there were no punts in a playoff game, mostly because Indianapolis' defense wasn't any more efficient. All-Pro Priest Holmes, who set an NFL record with 27 touchdowns this season (all on the ground), dived in from the 1 for two scores. Dante Hall, also an NFL record-setter this season, had a TD on a 92-yard kickoff runback.
