Vocabulary help needed, please

#1 Post by KillerTomato » Tue Apr 01, 2008 10:50 am

I need help trying to come up with a word. I'm looking for a word that implies deliberate pomposity in word selection. Someone who specifically would say something was commodious, rather than big, f'rinstance.

Any suggestions?

Not quite bloviator, but close.

Certainly a linguistic pedant (but those are 2 words). Kinda has a nice pejorative bite to it.

Thanks much for all the suggestions. I'm liking "linguistic pedantry"...
