Moving day - our branch has returned to its regular office after it was renovated. I hate the new furniture - the cubicle walls are half-height, meaning that they don't screen out light or sound. Further, I had to set up my computer so that my back is to the cubicle entrance, so I can't see people coming. Plus there's too much light coming in through the windows. Yes, I'm a troglodyte.

I wonder if the bosses who approved these ineffective cubicles are actually sitting in the middle of them or it they happen to have real offices?

It's been "proven" that half-height cube walls make people happier. Most people like the additional light and supposedly it's quieter with the lower walls as people realize they need to talk more softly.

They have real offices, of course.

Well I'm not most people.
