It's quite amusing.
A home for the weary.

If you click the "more" link it takes you to the real page, with a note at the top about April Fool's Day.andrewjackson wrote:I'm not seeing it.
I'm not sure I ever looked at this page before so maybe I'm missing the hilarity.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong Wikipedia main page.earendel wrote:If you click the "more" link it takes you to the real page, with a note at the top about April Fool's Day.andrewjackson wrote:I'm not seeing it.

Spoiler
The information on the main page is true, but written in such a way as to seem like a prank. The real page tells all about Ima Hogg, a real person.

You have to be careful when using Google. A friend at church related Sunday that his daughter, age 6 has "discovered" Google. She's big into "My Little Pony" figures, and has been Googling for images. My friend said, "It's surprising what comes up when you search 'my little pony' - he's now looking at CyberSitter or NetNanny for his computer.Deaf Mini wrote:My kids have discovered Fun With Google.
Go to Google, and type in
google pig latin
or
google gothic
google easter egg
google bear share
and then hit "I'm Feeling Lucky"
There are more, but I forget already. The Pig Latin and Gothic are the best. Easter egg is fun to play for a kid. The bear one is just kinda lame.
Yup. Use the Net Nanny trial to see how you like it first.earendel wrote:You have to be careful when using Google. A friend at church related Sunday that his daughter, age 6 has "discovered" Google. I did a search for "My Little Pony" and only My Little Pony related stuff came up. I think that if you set your google searches for Safe Search, the nasty stuff doesn't show up.earendel wrote:You have to be careful when using Google. I'm not sure how my friend's daughter entered the search, with or without quotes around the words, or something else. He may also have been exaggerating for humorous effect. I haven't tried it personally.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:I did a search for "My Little Pony" and only My Little Pony related stuff came up. Our church has three "public" computers that members can use (rather than tying up the office machines). They all have Net Nanny installed on them and it seems to work fairly well.Deaf Mini wrote:Yup. My kids are old enough that I can just tell them No Google Images, or Video, and please use a dictionary to look up a word if you don't know what it means instead of Googling it, or I will take away your internet connection.
Because they know I Mean It.
