RIP Andrew V. McLaglen

Action film director and son of Hollywood legend Victor McLaglen. McLaglen was a competent technician who turned out a lot of entertaining, well made action films (a quality that is sadly lacking today in an era in which action film making means overblown CGI laden, rapidly edited, headache inducing dreck). He was one of John Wayne's favorites (since the Duke and his father were buddies). Among his movies were McClintock, Shenandoah, Bandolero, The Undefeated, Chisum, The Wild Geese, and Ffolkes. He also did a lot of TV work on shows like Gunsmoke and Have Gun Will Travel, as well as TV movies late in his career.
