As long as we're asking for middle-age job vibes ...

As many/most of you, I has been working as a freelance writer/actress since my job at the electric company was eliminated in 2004.
From 2010 through 2013, I had a contract with the City of Philadelphia's Dept of Behavioral Health, including a project during the last six months of last year which was the springboard for all of DBH's Faith & Spiritual Affairs communications going forward. I also worked on different freelance assignments through two agencies.
DBH communications began a reorganization this year. The new director of communications hired an assistant (for which I applied and did not get, although I was a finalist) and is now looking for a web person. The department isn't even going to post any writer jobs - whether full-time or contract - until the web person is on board.
After a dearth of writing jobs this year, I have decided to take the plunge into acting full-time. The last time I did it was 2007, when I got The Happening, The Mighty Macs and a local voiceover and a national voiceover.
It's been pretty active, as far as auditions go. It's averaged out to one a week. Everything from industrial and training films to the PA lottery to local commercials.
Tonight, for example, I recorded two auditions - one for a health care company (Medicare enrollment) and the other for an industrial. I record them on my voice recorder, which records in mp3, then just send in the email. I've turned the spare bedroom closet into a little recording studio - the clothes muffle any outside sounds.
So far, however, I haven't booked anything. I've gotten a couple "right of first refusal," which means, basically, that I was the second choice. And the casting directors keep calling my agent.
What I am asking for is the vibes to get over the hump. I realize it pales in comparison to what Spiff, gs and sss are going through/went through. But, you guys are THE best. So ....
