tired of not "getting it" vis a vis in-joke refs here, I googled "Pigladillo". I got Unhelpful Google telling me I must mean "picadillo" & sending me to many picadillo recipes. I told it "nope, I mean Pigladillo" & I got sent to lb's blog.


You know, that place where you'd think lb is a decent person, as well as a crazed cartooner, if you didn't know better by how he treats you here. Blogs are great for that; nobody blogs what a jerk they are. Well, hardly anybody; I'm sure there are a few political blogs that do just that.


So congrats lb, you are now someone google officially sends searchers to, though only if they insist they don't want all those nice picadillo recipes. And you have at least one ref from another blog, or something.


For people who don't want to go this route, Pigladillo is Piglet from Winnie-The-Pooh reimagined as an armadillo. According to google, lb isn't the only entity who has had this thought (though apparently the only one who has drawn it).

As for Perry; be interesting if this actually sticks. The agency bringing the charges apparently thinks it will.


By the way, picadillo is great stuff. And one of the few Mexican recipes that doesn't have pork or lard (which I don't eat, though I admit I don't ask anymore about tamales, not wanting to know; they all have lard, apparently) in it. To bring us back to Piglet.


Woops, its not Mexican. Its Brazillian, Cuban, all sorts of places lay claim to it, but not Mexico. Oh well. Now I'm trying to remember the name of that picadillo-like stuff that is Mexican.


Nope, Wikishmoozia says it is Mexican too, after all. But it has a diff name at my local fav restaurant. I'm too lazy to look up the name. Right this minute, that is.

I saw nothing referring to Saucy in your blogstuff google gave me. Apologies to Saucy, then; should you be putting "inspired by Saucy" every place Pigladillo appears?


I would also say you need to look up "ironic", but you probably have & have decided to keep going with whatever your definition is.

If you're looking up a Bored reference, you're better off using the Bored's search feature. it returns 66 (now 67) hits for "Pigladillo." Go to the oldest, and you'll see where it started.

Credit where credit is due... I thought the Google hit where someone had compared Piglet to an armadillo two years before Pigladillo came into existence was hilarious, and means I must be doing something right if my armadillo drawing bore a resemblance to him to warrant Saucy's initial confusion...

I say this because I not only clicked on the link of some person who calls themself by some pig-sounding name, I clicked on the links to your blog itself & got sent to a bunch of cartoons, only one of which had Pigladillo in it.


And I visited your blog a few years ago, or whenever it was that you started it. That's what I drew my assessment from. Maybe its gotten snarkier since, in which case I take my assessment back. I'm too busy doing stuff I hate to have to do but have to to spend a lot of time checking out your blog's progress, or regress, or whatever.


Hmm; perhaps I didn't visit it as ghostjmf but as my other internet login, which you can easily find, being such a detective & all. I don't use it on this group. Don't worry.


Also; Saucy, aka a1mamacat, which she also posts as on this board, go back a long way on this board. So no reinformation is necessary there.

I feel duty-bound, as long as I brought it up earlier, to report that the only local great but cheap enough for me Mexican restaurant calls "tinga" what many may call "picadillo". (I said I was going to look it up, & so I did. On their menu.) Only they make it with chicken, not beef.


Recipe detailists will note that there are ingredients in picadillo that aren't in tinga (capers, for instance) & possibly vice-versa, but believe me the taste is similar.


And me discussing tamales sent me to another local restaurant, which inexplicably has the worse excuse for salsa in this world; seriously, they provide it in little awful packets, but they have $1.50 a la carte tamales, and they're great tamales, as long as you can live with no good sauce for them. So I got 2, but they must have used something in the recipe this time around that made me sick, as I got sick from them. Could be onion mold, though I didn't know you put onion in chicken tamales.


You know how the outer sections of an onion are moldy, but you can peel them off & get down to sections beneath which neither look nor taste moldy? Well, if the mold was on the outer parts of the onion, enough got down into the other sections to make me sick. Its a weird food sensitivity. Food sensitivities aren't allergies, as they don't involve the immune system; they involve your inability to digest something because you don't have the right enzymes or whatever.


And there's no point in asking a restaurant kitchen if they peeled off the bad part of the onion. I guess I could avoid foods with onions in them, but I love foods with onions in them.


I thought I was one of the few people on earth with this particular food sensitivity; then I found out that people with cystic fibrosis get so sick from it (possibly they are developing an immune-system response to this mold) that it can kill them.

I don't know what all this Pigladillo stuff has to do with Rick Perry, but the mainstream media seem to be nearly unanimous in dismissing the indictment as a politically motivated farce. This analysis goes a little deeper. Of course, none of the commentators have actually seen the evidence yet.

A summary of this for those who don't have the time to read the whole news stories:

Rick Perry wanted to put his own choice in charge of the state Public Integrity Unit. For some reason that's overseen by the Travis County District Attorney. Using the excuse that Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg had been convicted for drunken driving, Perry demanded that she resign or that he'd defund the entire Public Integrity Unit. She didn't, he did.

Of course those of us who don't trust Perry figure that he wanted a friend investigating Texas's public officials.

For better or worse, we elected her. Perry didn't want her investigating him, but it wasn't within his authority to remove her from office. What specific attempts he made to force her out are pure speculation. No one who is talking about it has seen the evidence.

I think this case has even less chance of success than Speaker Boehner's suit against President Obama. The case would be stronger if Perry was trying to oust the D.A. for purely partisan reasons, but the DUI conviction gives him a non-political excuse. But I don't know that much about it. I'd like to hear what TheCalvinator thinks, if he's around.

Thanks for the clarification. I was referring to Judge Burt Richardson, who is not the special prosecutor, but he led the grand jury and appointed the special prosecutor. He is currently running as a Republican for a seat on our state's highest court for criminal appeals.

As an aside, Texas has the equivalent of two supreme courts, one for criminal cases and one for civil cases. One of the current Judges on the Court of Criminal Appeals, Lawrence Meyers, had a safe job but decided to change parties and become a Democrat, then run for a judge seat on the Supreme Court. I have no idea what he was thinking, since it's political suicide to run for any statewide office as a Democrat. The only reason I know anything about it is because Judge Larry was a regular for many years at my usual Wednesday night pub quiz and I got to know him pretty well. He would come in and play on a team with other judges and office staff. I don't think they ever won, but they had a good time.
