Yeah, meetings can certainly suck the life out of you. We have a relatively small staff at our school. The actual teaching staff is big enough that they can get spread out onto the multitude of committees a school has. Those of us that are not classroom teachers wind up on just about every committee that has anything to do with actually running the school. Thankfully we get left off things like the beautification committee. Most of my committees have regularly scheduled weekly meetings. They consume a considerable chunk of your time. After a while, you feel like celebrating when one of them is cancelled.

My previous job, with a rather small bank here, had meeting after meeting to discuss the glacial progress of projects. There was no conflict, my biggest problem was trying to stay awake.

Wakefulness is hard. And subverting the desire to hurl oneself over chairs to throttle people.
