Very sad and very shocking news. I'm responding to this post rather than the one from a person who apparently didn't feel Williams deserving of an RIP.

Holy crap. Jeff met him back in the day at the Comedy Store when visiting an old friend Argus Hamilton.
Well, then

Both Williams (as Teddy Roosevelt) and Mickey Rooney will appear in the upcoming Night at the Museum sequel at Christmastime. That's going to be sad to see.

I'm pretty sure Zach's consistent failure to include RIPs stems from criticism he received re putting ourselves in position to judge who does and doesn't deserve an RIP (or an RIH). --Bob

I'm pretty sure you're giving him too much credit.

Very sad news. Such a talent, and so many wonderful memories.

In our personal circle, we also had a (probable) suicide this morning - a friend of both my daughters' dating back to middle school. 28 years old, and if it was indeed suicide (rather than an inexplicable accident) she did it in a horrific, public fashion. Running out into the path of a vehicle on the interstate (therefore also involving an innocent driver, who will no doubt be haunted forever by this.)

Then Robin. My girls are just knocked for a loop today.

RIP Robin and Heather.

I met him when he was a mime in Union Square back in the early 70s. Robert Shields, who is about the same age, got the publicity back then but where is he today? Robin was my second favorite modern comic actor. RIP :(

Heartbreaking; there is no way he was "out" of genius. What a loss. At least his battle with his demons is over. RIP, and thank you.

He made me laugh too many times to count. And when he got a decent script, he was a helluva actor.

Depression is a hideous affliction, made worse by the fact that so many of us who do not suffer from it cannot begin to understand it. I hope he is in a better place.

Can't blame it on me, either, as Robin had quite a few mentions in my Notorious Turkeys game last year.

I'm certainly sorry to see him go. He made me laugh deeply many times. A sad loss.

Robin's circle of friends wasn't limited to humans...

What's that? Just Robin Williams chilling with Koko the gorilla
