I'm so fortunate, today!
The Gifted Family of Mr Chris and Mrs Colin [redacted] announces their donation of the sum 800,000.00 Great British currency to you. Send

Actually, I'm kind of annoyed that I got this at my relatively new GMail address. I've been cautious about where I use it, so I didn't think the spammers would learn about it so quickly.

Anyone with that much Great British currency to throw around can pretty much buy whatever information they want. Look for a certified letter next....

Spammers use a brute force attack now. They send to "aaa", then "aab", then "aac", and so on. Putting symbols in your address can protect you from that but Gmail has a pretty good spam filter and catches most spammy emails. When you get one that slips through mark it as spam so their system will learn what's spam.
