He's currently the only undefeated player in Division One of the National Scrabble Championship. Granted, there are four days to go, but still the kid is only fourteen!

I did remember because I was exhorted to do so!
I didn't remember it was almost exactly one year ago until I looked it up. That's when you described him as "scary good."
Good luck, Mack!

Mack ended up in 7th. He will almost certainly be the winner someday. I'm thrilled that
Conrad Bassett-Bouchard, a good friend of mine as well as Frank's, ended up the champion.
ShamelessWeasel's son ended up in 4th in Division 2 after spending a long stretch of the tournament in 2nd place. He could very well be champion someday also. ShamelessWeasel and I managed to chat at the tournament; he said Kevin might be taking up the international lexicon so that he can compete in the World Youth Scrabble Championship next year.
Nigel Richards, the subject of the FiveThirtyEight.com article,
had an off year. He'll be back, I'm sure.
I played in the division that used the international lexicon (aka CSW, Collins Scrabble Words), so it was fun playing opponents from Australia, Barbados, the United Kingdom, and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the usual Americans and Canadians. I, uh,
didn't distinguish myself.
