Hey, it's actually morning!
The announcement was finally made about the open GS-12 position in our branch and I didn't get it. I asked for an explanation and was told that my resume didn't "make the cut". Although I was assured that I was the best at what I do, what I do isn't broad enough to have qualified for the position. Evidently administering multiple databases and pulling reports for data calls isn't enough. And admittedly that's true - I don't have the skills for other aspects of the position (peer reviews, for instance), but then again whoever did get the job (and that hasn't been announced yet) can't do what I do and I'll have to train that person to at least be able to do the basic stuff. Aside from that I have a suspicion (unprovable) that they wanted someone farther away from retirement than I am (although I have at least 7 more years to go due to some financial decisions that elwing and I made a while back). As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, I've been in my position more years than some of the employees have been alive.
