When you are calling people who don't own a computer, don't tell them "I'm from the IT department & your computer has downloaded some fraudulent files". Especially don't call them at their home landline & say that, as their work IT dept probably wouldn't be calling their home. And they probably don't have their very own IT dept at home. Also don't give yourself an entirely Anglo-Saxony-sounding name when you have a very strong Indian, as in the-continent-of-India accent. To be PC & give everyone the benefit of the doubt, your parents in India could have that Anglo last name & have given you that Anglo 1st name. I realize this. Nevertheless, most IT depts don't have voices to be heard loudly in the background sounding like they're making the same kind of calls, as in at a call center. I guess they could be. But I don't think so.

This is a known scam. The correct course of action is to hang up quickly, even if you do have a computer at home. How loudly one hangs up is left to the discretion of the prospective victim.

These calls are fun. I string them out for 5-10 minutes and then say "Bob, I don't own a computer." Then I try to sell them some cialis.
