It appears that Erika, my alternate/backup is leaving. She's never really been happy here. I don't know why she even took the job since it involved moving from Ft. Drum, NY and she seems to travel back there every other week or so (12-hour drive each direction). Apparently she applied for a job at Ft. Drum in a different department and is a shoo-in to get it. She'll know on Tuesday.
I'll be sorry to see her go because the only other person who can do any of what I do is out on maternity leave for another month and I have vacation scheduled for next month. My boss may decide that I'm "essential" and deny my leave request, which would really be a bummer. Not only that but it will be difficult to find someone else with anything close to the level of expertise that Erika had. And all the permissions for all the different databases that we had to fight long and hard to get for her will now have to be transferred to someone else.
