Shane Whitlock

Tied for 1st with him at the half. Probably won't look that way after the 2nd half.

*random (not the norm) bragging moment*

What flavor of trivia?

I've beaten quite a few million dollar (or more) winners. It all depends on what the questions are.

Where? Little Rock? Was his wife with him? I expect to see both of them in a few weeks at TCONA in Las Vegas. Still time for anyone to sign up.

I went out to the pizza place where my 3rd son is employed for their weekly Tuesday trivia. At the end of the 1st half our team (elwing and I) were behind by 1.5 points, but came back strong in the 2nd half to win by 3 points. One of the questions was "What is the Hebrew word for 'box' or 'chest'?" Having studied Hebrew for 8 years at the seminary I figured this would be a gimme, but I couldn't come up with anything, so we put down "ark". Surprisingly, that's what the host was looking for. I pointed out to him that, although I got the answer, that really wasn't right because "ark" isn't Hebrew (the right answer would have been "tevah", which came to me on the way home).

My online dictionary seems to say they may have meant Latin for chest or box.

It was actually in Texarkana, and his wife wasn't with him, though I hear she would have loved part of the Wager of Death category (alpha order, one had to do with the last word of "O, Canada"). Brent, the Arkansas Area Manager for Challenge Entertainment, introduced us as having a WWTBAM connection. Apparently Shane and his wife travel to different shows from time to time. They normally play in Little Rock, which we compete against at the Mid-South Finals.

We placed 3rd. I actually played a solo game last week and thought it would be rude to turn down this team that invited me to play on their team two weeks in a row. The past two weeks I have had members of both my teams back out last minute. Buffalo Wild Wings (Texarkana) just started hosting the show 3-4 weeks ago so it's still growing. Brent went from having about 4-5 teams the first week to (I think) 9-10 teams last night.

Doesn't your BWW have NTN as the others do? I played Team Trivia in SC at places that had NTN but they soon dumped NTN.

Did they specify the English Version?
« O Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!

Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!

Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.

Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

I think they may still have NTN, but I'm not sure how often it's actually used anymore.

I believe Brent did specify "the English version" in the question.
