More than a hundred people stood in line early Friday morning in front of the Hollywood Palms Cinema in Naperville, waiting for a chance to be a millionaire.
Including one woman who arrived at 2 am--but she waited in her car because of the cold.

They interviewed producer Liz Harris.
“We usually visit six cities a year, and we’re looking for people who can pass the 30-question test we give,” Harris said. “We also interview them as part of the screening process. We want people who are representative people of America — people with energy and who are interesting and who we think the television audience will like.”
Representative people of America aren't all What Else, Liz. And many are over thirty.
Tim McEvilly, of Crest Hill, was sporting a special T-shirt promoting the show. The former Naperville resident said he arrived at 5:40 a.m. and was surprised at how few people were there to audition.

“I’ve watched the show right from the start when Regis Philbin was the host,” he said. “As far as why I want to try out, I feel I’m a fairly well-read person and also pretty calm on my feet, so I feel as though I have as good a chance as anyone.”
Since you've got gray hair, Tim, your chances might not be as good as anyone. :|

There were Houston auditions last week. Jeff offered to drive me. I ruefully chuckled and declined.

I agree that this was the fewest people I've ever seen at an audition. 200 of us took the test at 7am, and there might have been another hundred in line when I left. One woman I talked to said she'd tried out 3 times before, and unlike the previous times, she couldn't recall seeing any promotion for this tryout.

They had a lot of people passing that first test, probably because the test takers were the kinds of people who would make an effort to find out about the test on their own.

This makes 5 passes in 4 cities (in 4 states) for me.

This isn't meant to deter ,or whatever, anyone from trying to get on the show forever. But, I've accepted the fact that having passed multiple Bam and J tests I am lacking something they want onscreen. I may make them laugh or have a perky story, and engage them in conversation, I haven't fit their requirements for the time. And, it's all good. It was fun trying.

I am realizing that too. If J emails me for an audition this year, I will go because I didn't audition for them in 3 years, but otherwise I am done trying out for now. I only went to BAM because it was an easy walk, and they have new producers.
