top o' the mornin'® 6/9/2014

#1 Post by earendel » Mon Jun 09, 2014 12:13 pm

Rough weekend - our grandson fell off some monkey bars on Saturday morning and suffered a skull fracture and a lacerated ear. They did both a CT and MRI and didn't see anything, but he couldn't remember what happened nor what had happened the day before, so the doctors suspected a concussion. He was kept overnight for observation and released yesterday. He seems to be in good spirits, but the parents are concerned about long-term effects. Combine this with his oldest sister fracturing her wrist last Monday and the summer isn't starting out very well.

I hope they at least found something, just nothing abnormal :P (or, as I say to Mrs. Spiff, it's "nominal." That drives her nuts for some reason.)

I hope he gets better soon. Skull fractures and concussions aren't fun. The only long-term thing I'd worry about is if he does it again.

Yikes!

I'm glad your grandson's home, with no apparent complications from the fracture.

Better get some bubble wrap for the grandkids, before anything else happens.

Where were these monkey bars that someone could fall from them and hit their head hard enough to get a skull fracture?! :x

Here's hoping they both recover with no ill effects (other than the ones they already have!).

A public park. It was a freak accident - he fell and hit the platform.

Update: Caden is home and according to his father, back to normal. The doctor said no rough play for 2 weeks. Good luck with that.
