Hard to believe it's been 25 years

Twenty-five years ago today, there was a huge train crash in the Soviet Union. On almost any other day, it would have been the day's biggest story. On this day, though, it was third.

Twenty-five years ago today, news broke of the death of Ayatolla Ruhollah Khomeini. On almost any other day, it would have been one of the year's biggest stories. On this day, though, it placed second.

Twenty-five years ago today, Tienanmen Square entered the world's lexicon. May we never forget it, and the bravery of the Chinese people willing to challenge their government. --Bob

In Poland, twenty-five years ago today is celebrated as Freedom Day, the date of the first free election in eastern Europe. That was the fourth biggest story.
