How did the Yankees score two runs on an infield single? The bases weren't even loaded, so the runners wouldn't have been going on the pitch. Ichiro was credited with 2 RBI on the play so there couldn't have been an error involved. --Bob

Jacoby Ellsbury : Strike looking, Strike swinging, Ball, Ellsbury struck out looking.
Brian McCann : Strike swinging, Ball, Foul, McCann singled to center.
Yangervis Solarte : Foul, Ball, Solarte doubled to right, McCann to third.
Alfonso Soriano : Foul, Strike swinging, Soriano struck out swinging.
Ichiro Suzuki : Strike looking, Ball, Ball, Ball, Suzuki reached on an infield single, McCann and Solarte scored.
There were runners on second and third. My guess would be that Solarte took off for home while the throw was being made to first base and caught the Mariners off guard. I've seen that play quite a bit before (Pujols used to take a lot of surprise extra bases in his better days), and the batter gets credit for that RBI as well since there was no error and it wasn't a fielder's choice situation....

I finally saw the video. The ball kicked off the pitcher's foot and out to the shortstop, who tried unsuccessfully to barehand it. Both runners scored as the ball trickled behind second base. --Bob
