ANSWERS/POINTS LS C&W WEEKEND March 29

Here we go, the last game of the month, and it's C&W Weekend! How great is that? Ha! I'm going to see about getting scores for Wednesday and Thursday (I thought I already did Wednesday, but I must have gotten sidetracked), but I probably won't have Friday until tomorrow since I'll be at the Can tonight. I said AT the Can, not IN the can, ha!
So, has there been any rumblings as to someone taking over next month (like they could possibly follow this exquisite mess)? Usually I give some extra time so stragglers can answer, but I'll have final scores up by noon on Monday, just in case there's some question about who gets first nibs.

So we're ending on that C&W thing, huh? I don't really get why this has been my best category, but it unquestionably has. In the very unlikely chance I manage to win this thing, I don't have time to host another game, plus I'm a little shell-shocked from the last time I tried.
And, I may be wrong, but though you've made some disparaging remarks about my taste in music, I think I did way better this month than I usually do, which I think says something about that on some level we sometimes think alike

Jolene - I have to admit I really like Mindy (Mindie?) Smith's version, but nowhere near as much as I like Dolly's. So I'll say by Dolly Parton. This song reminds me of political correctness and cliches.
Alot of cliches are, well, cliches for a reason - my f-i-l proclaims "we've got it good!" at least 3-4 times a day, so much so that I want to vomit every time he does. But we DO have it good.
And political correctness - taken to the ends that some people try to take it, it's crazy and oppressive. But most of the underlying building blocks make a lot of sense, and they're things that haven't exactly been taken for granted for much of our history. People who aren't white men SHOULD have opportunities. There IS value at looking at history from viewpoints other than the victors'. Organized prayer at public schools, and for that matter, indoctrinating public schoolchildren to say a pledge to a nation "under god", ARE offensive to people who don't believe in such.
Jolene IS a total cliche you-done-me-wrong song. And yet it's SOOOO good.

First off, Fanny, thank you for this month's games! Another job well done.
Second, should I hold on to the lead and win, I cannot assume hosting duties this month. Too much going on that might result in meisterus interruptus. Plus I have felt like crap the last week. Hopefully someone's got some inclination to host. If not, I'll step up at some point.

Bonus: "Pickin' and grinnin'" makes me think of Roy Clark and "Spanish classical guitar song" evokes Malaguena, so that's what I'm going with.

O for pity's sake I read a bonus wrong.
Hoyt Axton's biggest-selling song was prolly Joy To The World, but not done by him. His mom's biggest selling song was Heartbreak Hotel, but not done by her.
Its been a very bad month for me & my brain is still frozen or I'd be trying harder.

The question wasn't what was his biggest song, but what song had been used in an earlier LS game (it's just my opinion that it's his biggest, that was performed by him), so luckily I didn't have any judgment calls there.

Everybody who stuck it out and played the last CW&W got 20 bonus points!
As for other extras, Caro got 2 points for every song title he used that I actually know the words to and 5 points for Bo and Luke Duke because it was funny. Lb gets The Fantine Memorial JJ Cale Invocation 5 points, plus a few 2 pointers that I forget why already, plus his legitimate Johnny Cash points. And marley and astro both get double participation points to go with their bonus points.
