Not graduating? Just phone in a bomb threat!

#1 Post by SpacemanSpiff » Mon May 19, 2014 9:41 am

I thought this stunt was only done by students who wanted to skip an exam (which isn't smart either -- I had a classmate in high school who did that a couple of times; needless to say, he didn't graduate from that school...)

I know my father told me he fretted about not graduating at university until the morning of the ceremony because his GPA was so borderline (he joked they had to go to the sixth decimal point to make it work out), but he'd have enough sense not to pull this stunt.

When I was a student at Georgia Tech, there were extensive security concerns following the Kent State shootings and some idiots starting phoning bomb threats into Tech (which was about as apolitical a campus as there was back then). Even though after the first one everyone pretty much knew it was a hoax, the campus police and others had to take the threat seriously. Eventually, the FBI made an arrest when they found a correlation between the bomb threats and the locations of a particular student's classes (he'd phone in a threat if he didn't feel like going to class).

Boston area news is now saying that she NEVER attended the college. How she expected this scam to last beyond graduation is beyond my understanding. Kids are suing parents for one reason or another everywhere. Can parents sue their adult children as well?
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Some idiot did that to my alma mater, calling in during finals week at the college, plus the courthouse and the high school, but his motive was never revealed. It was relatively easy to find him because he called in to the 911 Dispatch Center from his residence, and his roommates wouldn't cover for him. Maybe he was paranoid schizophrenic. Or, maybe he just wanted to skip his finals. The police never said.

Is it any wonder that the people doing these stupid stunts are the ones with a GPA too low to graduate ?
I felt the change
