I believe this criticism should come from someone who's walked a mile in those moccasins, or better yet, not at all. While you were at it, did you really intend to insult the rest of us by implying we couldn't figure out that it was Crocs? Why point it out otherwise?

Since Crocs has that wavy red underline on my screen, I suspect that auto-correct kicked in so that it was a matter of trying to post the results accurately and quickly, quite the opposite of sloppy.

I was asking a question that had absolutely nothing to do with criticizing the transcribers. I was attempting to verify that the quality control and proof reading by the show's producers and writers has declined, as the transcripts appear to indicate. As far as I can tell, the transcripts continue to be excellent. I would never criticize the volunteers who produce them. The paid employees of a show seen by millions should be held to a high standard, as the transcriber himself did in pointing out the error in the "popular kid's (sic) movie" question. Since he raised the issue with that comment, I jumped on the same bandwagon with another example.

I try to write plainly and to make my intent clear, but I failed miserably in this case, if you or others on the board were in any way insulted by my observation that WWTBAM can't spell Crocs. It seemed clear to me at the time that I was commenting on the questions, not the transcripts.

I doubt I'd have made it this far (that question about Facebook would probably have resulted in an even audience distribution), but if I had, I could have answered this one.

I have to say it doesn't seem as if they dumbed down the questions just for the contestant's sake.

As the Friday transcriptionist, I can tell you that that particular error was mine - as sprots suggested, my auto-correct changed the word from "Crocs" to "Crocks" and I didn't catch it when I posted the transcript.

The other error ("kid's" instead of "kids"), however, was BAM's error (hence the "sic" in the transcript).

Okay, thanks. That's why I asked. My default assumption was that the show was wrong, not the transcript, so thanks for the clarification. I also did not know that some browser spell checkers will automatically make changes without the user's specific approval. I would hate that. I use the Chrome browser and it highlights the words it doesn't like with a squiggly red underline, but never changes anything unless I tell it to. I assume that behavior can be changed in the settings. Many thanks to you and all of our loyal transcriptionists over the years, soon to enter the Terry Crews hosting era.

Just to further clarify - I do the transcript in Word and then copy and paste it onto the Bored® so it was Micro$oft's fault.
