Wedding Blog: BD**2 - 135

Back at work. It's noon and I'm still digging my way out from the paperwork that has piled up the last two days. That's what I get for working in a government-regulated industry.
Funeral of BIL's mother is Monday, so that may be an off-day for the blog. BIL and Sis were "steadies" (do they still use that term?) from around age 15, which would make me around five years old. At that age, you are only self-aware, in that nothing around you is as important as your own needs. So quite literally, I've known BIL and his family as long as I can remember. His parents were regular folks, a bit better off financially than we were (they founded a well-known children's product company, which was recently sold to a French firm) but with a smaller house than ours. About the only difference was they had a swimming pool in an era and area that didn't have many. IIRC, it barely fit into their tiny backyard. Oh, and BIL and his brother owned a car together. A turquoise Corvair, LOL. We could have had a truly inter-linked family. One of my early girlfriends was his BIL's sister ( = my BIL's oldest sister married the big brother of my girlfriend; capisce?).
Anyway, that was another long marriage, till death did they part. I truly don't know of a blood relative who has divorced. There are a couple non-blood relatives, but distant relations, both literally and figuratively. BD and FSIL have a history to live up to. Even in this day and age, though, who goes into a marriage figuring it will end in divorce? That is, other than some celebrities who would be better served if they carried the divorce papers in their back pocket as they headed down the aisle.
