I forget the names but they deal with the major cultural touchstones. ie Art, Philosophy and inventors I think. Each major guy-ie Leonardo da Vinci has a chapter.
I read these several years ago to fill in major gaps for J! and WWTBAM. These books have helped me immensely when I watch J!.
Since J! is a possibilty-I think I will re-read them again. It is stuff I should know anyway.
I am currently reading a book in that vein called "Civilization" that deals more with Art.

Sounds very interesting. Would you recommend reading them in the order he wrote them - i.e. The Discovers, The Creators, The Seekers, or would you recommend one over the other two (I'm not familiar with Boorstein at all).Spock wrote:I forget the names but they deal with the major cultural touchstones. ie Art, Philosophy and inventors I think. I read them in order. The Creators helped me the most as that was my main weakness. IIRC-I did not like "The Seekers" as much as the first 2. It was a tougher read for some reason-I found it more boring.trevor_macfee wrote:Sounds very interesting.
