I love my job but hate the new bureaucracy. Every quarter there's a "validation and verification" report that has to be submitted. In the past I've gone ahead when the data became available and did the work for the districts. But this quarter, after the creation of this new "business oversight branch", I had to wait almost 2 weeks for my branch chief to decide that I needed to do the work that I could already have had done. Did I mention that she didn't give me the goahead until Wednesday and the suspense date is end of the day today?

A guy I used to work with had a great saying for this. "Lack of preparation on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

True, but don't say that to your boss.
