American Hustle observations/questions

Watched it this past week; actually, twice. Once by myself, uninterrupted. Second time with peeps and it helped to see it twice. Anyway...

I was there in the '70's, at that ageishness, right at that time, and while a lot of the movie, especially the music, was very spot on, I was confused by Jennifer Lawrence's and Elizabeth Rohm's hairdos. I don't remember anyone, anywhere, wearing big, pouffy updos like that. Was that an East Coast thing? Or just another example of the archtypes, stereotypes of the characters?

Also, I do not recall anyone, anywhere, wandering around in a business environment with a dress open down to there, boobs flapping. Seriously.

I did love the movie, though. Christian Bale was so perfectly slimey.

I can't comment on the hair. I never focused on much above the neckline. In this movie, or in the 70's. The boobs weren't quite on display in the 70's as they were in the movie. That I know for sure.

I'll be watching it for the first time this weekend so can't say if hairdos were as poofy as depicted in the film but yes, big hair was an East Coast thing back then.

My Congress Critter John Jenerette took his ABSCAM bribe in 1980. Perhaps we should use Rita Jenerette as a hair reference.

I remember her! That hair I remember, too. Sort of the modified Farrah Fawcett. But it's not pulled up and poofy. Also, big fat round can-sized curlers were more 60's, early 70's and they were all over the place in the film.
Rita's hair looks like a prototype for 80's hair, which was big and poofy more so.

I do so love an intellectual conversation.
