Lyrically Speaking - 3/11/14

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Mar 11, 2014 6:36 am

Here is the final Tuesday Wordplay of the season. After 7 years and almost 70 words, how much longer can the LSWE's Tuesday theme go on? I guess we'll find out when the game returns next year!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist....

1. Now Baby, listen Baby, don't you treat me this-a way
'Cause I'll be back on my feet some day,
Don't care if you do, cause it's understood,
You got no money, and you just ain't no good

2. When I can't sleep at night
Without holding you tight
Girl, each time I try I just break down and cry
Pain in my head
Oh, I'd rather be dead
Spinning around and around

3. The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day

4. Jack be nimble Jack be quick
(Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Take a ride on the West Coast kick
(Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)

5. Every long lost dream lead me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms

6. I used to ride with a vending machine repairman
He said he's been down this road more than twice
He was high on intellectualism
I've never been there, but the brochure looks nice

7. Past corrugated tin shacks holed up with kids and
Man I don't mean a Hampstead nursery.
But when you own a big chunk of the bloody third world,
The babies just come with the scenery.

8. He got the voices speakin' riddles
He got the eye as black as coal
He got a suitcase covered with rattlesnake hide

9. Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey, that's me and I want you only
Don't turn me home again
I just can't face myself alone again

10. 'I used to be now I'm not
What you see, Lord, I try
And now it seems
All those dreams have come true
But they're passing me by

11. What do you think you'll do then
I bet that'll shoot down your plane
It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet again

12. But I'll be back on Monday afternoon, you'll see
Another truckload's comin' in for me, all for me

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that has the magic word of the day in the title.

Mecca Bonus: One of the songs above has been on the Mecca CD. Which number? (1 possible point)

5 Point Bonus: I got nothing. Come up with something else that isn't a song (anything else, really) that contains the word of the day. 2 points for a text answer or 5 points for posting an image of your answer.

Man I don't mean a Hampstead nursery.
But when you own a big chunk of the bloody third world,
The babies just come with the scenery.

He got the eye as black as coal
He got a suitcase covered with rattlesnake hide

What you see, Lord, I try
And now it seems
All those dreams have come true

I bet that'll shoot down your plane
It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet again

Here is the final Tuesday Wordplay of the season. After 7 years and almost 70 words, how much longer can the LSWE's Tuesday theme go on? I guess we'll find out when the game returns next year!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist....

1. Now Baby, listen Baby, don't you treat me this-a way

You got no money, and you just ain't no good

"Hit the Road Jack" - Ray Charles
