Thinking of MVLease

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Wed Feb 26, 2014 9:45 am

Very sad news on Facebook from MVLease. Yesterday he had to place his 52-year-old wife in a nursing home. The issue appears to be some form of early-onset dementia. She no longer knows who he is.

He made his Facebook status update available to the Public, so I'm comfortable concluding that he'd like people here to know as well. --Bob

No words can express my sympathy for him (and her). That is such xxxxxxx situation. I'm not sure the right word there. Terrible maybe, but not quite. Sad? Yes, but still not quite the right word.

Just read his post. Brought tears to my eyes.

My roommate was friend with a neighbor in her early 50s with this situation. The world responded better than I expected to her needs. I am sending good vibes for MVLease's family for the same to happen.

This news makes me so sad for the Leases. I send prayers that circumstances will begin to improve soon.

Please email him and make sure his wife is testing for a urinary tract infection, any changes to any medications and a complete blood test. Many conditions mimic dementia and can be treated.

This is horrible. If I'm remembering people correctly, the Leases are local to Boston & I didn't go up to meet them at one of the Boston tryouts for BAM only because I was bummed at my "we know you; goodby" reception from the interview crew.

Nope, editing this a day later; I'm pretty sure that was one of the 2 tests out of 12 or more I didn't pass. Both Leases did pass. They were sitting with the group waiting for interviews.

Geoffil is right; there's a condition I'm forgetting the name of that mimics senile dementia point for point, but is caused (I think I remember) by pressure of fluid on the brain, which can be relieved. I wouldn't want to give anybody false hope, but for one so young, unless early-onset dementia runs in her family, & the cause of hers has been confirmed by MRI scan, all these things should be tested.

I just can't imagine. We went through this terrible disease with my 74 year old MIL. 52? Just a prayer for the whole family to stay strong.

Prayers to him and his family for strength and an endurance and a sense of humor to keep them going. How truly sad.
Well, then

Sending my condolences to the Kahuna. Thinking of him often and hoping for strength in the coming difficult days . . .

Oh my G-d. I was afraid this was why the thread came back up. May she rest in peace. I wish she'd gotten her chance on BAM, too. She deserved so much better from life, but she had a loving husband, which counts for a lot.
