Why not just stay home and watch your HDTV?

Agreed. I prefer to be able to hit the pause button and get some popcorn or hit the bathroom and then get back to the movie. Although I like the "movie theater experience" I can crank up the surround now and almost get the same feel. When we move, we (I mostly) will be looking into setting up one of those complete in-home theaters. It may take a while before those $10 per movie prices pay for themselves. But, I do watch a lot of movies.

The El Capitan theater in Hollywood has VIP tickets that cost $22 each. For this price you receive reserved seating, popcorn and a drink. Usually the popcorn is in a plastic container that can be used as a souvenir.

When I lived there we went to the Arclight often. The tickets were $12 but the seats were luxurious and the popcorn and other food was top notch. We did the Scriptwriters Network "Story to Glory" series there. (We had writers come in and discuss their film before and after we screened it.)

If the price keeps out chattering kids and cellphones, it might be worth it.

There will always be kids at the El Capitan because all they play are Disney Movies. :)

Must resist...

Must resist...

Can't resist. So here goes:

At that price, I've heard that every movie they show has a "happy ending".

I'm psychotic- I want my movies to end with a sad ending!

(Maybe I'm just not getting the joke?)
