Good morning, everybody, and welcome to “NellyLunatic1980's Crosswords”, where we put a new spin on America’s favorite pastime. You know how the game is played: Buzz in with the correct answer and correct spelling to earn points. If I showed you this...
... and gave you the clue “37-Down: It keeps you running”, you would say “motor” (M-O-T-O-R).

*correct answer SFX*
And now... let’s do crosswords! Here is the puzzle we will be working on:

Alternate link:
http://www.angelfire.com/ky3/nellylunat ... 26qod.html
As you can see, I gave you the word “MOTOR” to start you off. Hand on buzzers. Let’s get started.
Answers are due by Thursday at 5 PM Eastern.
I heard a rumor that tomorrow’s QoD will be hosted by a special guest.

Woo-hoo, nobody else spelled out their answers as instructed. I guess I'm the only one who gets any points!
I was trying to fit "Gun Rights " into _ _ _ E _, since I misread the 54 in the diagram as a 34. I had no prayer of coming up with VICKS without a crossing letter, and I'm doubtful I would have gotten it even with the C.

As you can see, I gave you the word “MOTOR” to start you off. Hand on buzzers. Let’s get started.
1. 43-Across: “Dome” or “turf” starter -
A-S-T-R-O (Astrodome, Astroturf)
2. 43-Down: Unit of currency, perhaps -
A-M-P-E-R-E (as in electrical current)
3. 34-Across: Gun rights -
S-E-C-O-N-D-A-M-E-N-D-M-E-N-T
4. 25-Down: Football brothers Michael and Marcus -
V-I-C-K-S (Sorry, but one VICK doesn't fit the puzzle.)
5. 20-Down: Dallas suburb -
P-L-A-N-O
6. 19-Across: A type of cream you eat -
W-H-I-P-P-I-N-G
7. 1-Down: Catty remark? -
M-E-O-W
8. 26-Down: Dryad or nereid -

11. 9-Down: Marked for life? -

)
13. 35-Down: Sally Field’s Oscar-winning vehicle -
N-O-R-M-A-R-A-E
14. 61-Across: You lose it when you stand up -

CROSSWORD EXTRA
49-Across: Soulja Boy’s hip-hop dance -
S-U-P-E-R-M-A-N (Annie was thinking CRANK DAT, but that was the name of the song, not the dance.)
fannie, mrkelley, and gsabc got perfect scores. They don't get an Xbox, $5,000, or a tropical vacation though.
aj didn't respond, so that allowed the three immediately below him to move up. Actual "Crosswords" champion plasticene is now within 10 points of claiming a Top 5 slot.
Sometime next week, I'll show you what my entire crossword puzzle looks like.
