Lyrically Speaking - 2/17/14

#1 Post by Gimme A Squiggly » Mon Feb 17, 2014 7:53 am

While I pride myself on my ability to pump music into my stores that tortures my associates who have to listen to it all the time, sometimes even I fail. LB has strangely taken a liking to a lot of songs I've put on my past four CD's, including many he had never heard before. They grow on him... like fungus on the ground beef in our cooler. I picked out 12 songs from the Summer CD that LB enjoyed hearing every night from May to August. Oh, the queue line for goose eggs begins over in the Housewares department... all of the songs below are relatively recent. If you wanna hear old music while you stroll down the aisles.... go to Tar-jhay. Assuming you don't mind music that echoes through their empty.... oh, excuse me....

Could we have security to the soda aisle to tase the associates stealing sips of Pepsi off the counter?

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist....

1. No apologies
He'll never see you cry
Pretend he doesn't know
That he's the reason why
You're drowning, you're drowning, you're drowning

2. There you go making my heart beat again, heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid won't you do it do it one time

3. Hey baby won't you look my way?
I can be your new addiction
Hey baby what you gotta say?
All you're giving me is fiction

4. I don't like walking around this old and empty house
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear
The stairs creak as I sleep, it's keeping me awake
It's the house telling you to close your eyes

5. People keep talking
They can say what they like
But all I know is
Everything's gonna be alright

6. You're insecure,
Don't know what for,
You're turning heads when you walk through the door,
Don't need make-up,
To cover up,
Being the way that you are is enough,

7. Since my heart is golden
I've got sense to hold in
Tempted just to make an ugly scene
No I'm not as proper, my money's in copper
Ripped down from the brownstones to the street

8. Open me up and you will see
I'm a gallery of broken hearts
I'm beyond repair, let me be
And give me back my broken parts

9. Screen falling off the door door hanging off the hinges
My feet are still sore my back is on the fringes
We tore up the walls we slept on couches
We lifted this house we lifted this house

10. Sometimes those airplanes they catch on fire
Sometimes there's bullshit that don't work now
We got stories that kids tell me
What's there's to complain about

11. I can't wait 'til I get you on the floor, good-looking
Going out so hot, just like an oven
And I'll burn myself, but just had to touch it
It's so fine and it's all mine

12. Now I'm here in a sticky situation
Got a little trouble, yep and now I'm pacin'
Five minutes, ten minutes, now it's been an hour
Don't wanna think too hard, but I'm sour

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist you would enjoy hearing on the Mecca CD.

Technicolor Bob Ross

Don't wanna think too hard, but I'm sour

Whew! Was afraid it was going to be a shutout. Broken Hearted -- Karmin

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist you would enjoy hearing on the Mecca CD. I'll avoid the Kelly Clarkson catalog and go with "Love you like a Love Song" -- Selena Gomez.

5 Point Bonus: Which of these songs did mini post a YouTube of during last year's LSWE that I refused to listen to because I had already decided I did not like the artist?

I"m pretty sure the discussion was about Neon Trees, but I have no idea which of these songs might be theirs.

Spoiler

Thanks to my daughters who turned me on to KGSR. 8) 8) 8)

1. No apologies
He'll never see you cry
Pretend he doesn't know
That he's the reason why
You're drowning, you're drowning, you're drowning
I Knew You Were Trouble (Ode to LB) – Taylor Swift
***This is not one of my “joke” Taylor Swift answers.
2. There you go making my heart beat again, heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid won't you do it do it one time
Resurrected – The Portable Defibrillators

3. Hey baby won't you look my way?
I can be your new addiction
Hey baby what you gotta say?
All you're giving me is fiction
It Started With a Whisper – Neon Trees

4. I don't like walking around this old and empty house
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear
The stairs creak as I sleep, it's keeping me awake
It's the house telling you to close your eyes
Little Talks – Of Monsters and Men

5. People keep talking
They can say what they like
But all I know is
Everything's gonna be alright
No One – Alicia Keyes

6. You're insecure,
Don't know what for,
You're turning heads when you walk through the door,
Don't need make-up,
To cover up,
Being the way that you are is enough,
What Makes You Beautiful – One Direction
***This song was NOT written about Taylor Swift.

7. Since my heart is golden
I've got sense to hold in
Tempted just to make an ugly scene
No I'm not as proper, my money's in copper
Ripped down from the brownstones to the street
Carried Away – Passion Pit
We were looking forward to seeing Passion Pit on the final day of ACL Music Festival last year but sadly, the third day was rained out.

8. Open me up and you will see
I'm a gallery of broken hearts
I'm beyond repair, let me be
And give me back my broken parts
They Love Me & Leave Me – Taylor Swift

9. Screen falling off the door door hanging off the hinges
My feet are still sore my back is on the fringes
We tore up the walls we slept on couches
We lifted this house we lifted this house
Anna Sun – Walk the Moon
Saw this performed live at ACL Music Festival last October.

10. Sometimes those airplanes they catch on fire
Sometimes there's bullshit that don't work now

Good Life – One Republic
Had the pleasure of seeing this performed live at The Moody Theater last September.

11. I can't wait 'til I get you on the floor, good-looking
Going out so hot, just like an oven
And I'll burn myself, but just had to touch it
It's so fine and it's all mine
Suit and Tie – Justin Timberlake

12. Now I'm here in a sticky situation
Got a little trouble, yep and now I'm pacin'
Five minutes, ten minutes, now it's been an hour
Don't wanna think too hard, but I'm sour
Outta Sauce – Bob A. Que and the Homies
