Steve Kaltenbaugh
Odenton, MD

Steve is 28 years old and a Navy vet. He'd like to use some of this money to set up a college fund for his niece and nephew.

Steve has $250,000 in his bank and is about to see the $500,000 question. All of his lifelines are gone.

$500,000
Whose NY Times obit stated, "He earned his first penny by reciting Burn's long poem, 'Man Was Made to Mourn,' without a break?

A: J.P. Morgan B: Cornelius Vanderbilt
C: Andrew Carnegie D: John D. Rockefeller

Steve's first thoughts are that
Spoiler
Burns was a Scotsman, as was Carnegie. Carnegie also supported libraries, so his parents might have valued education in his youth. Steve is leaning towards Carnegie,
but he's not confident enough. Steve walks away with $250,000.
Answer
C: Andrew Carnegie

Good reasoning on an obscure question, Steve. I made the same "Scotsman" connection he did. I hope I'd go for it, at the Hot Podium.

Not that TPTB want to give me the chance. :|

I thought of the same connection, but I wouldn't have gone for it either.

Yay Steve! Congrats on the $250K!

Great job, Steve!

He plays on my trivia team now along with Rafferbee, Renovator, Corn and Starfish. We also have J! 5 time champ Jay Rhee playing with us on occasion, so we are really trying to assemble a juggernaut.
