RIP Christopher Jones

One time hot young actor who pretty much walked away from it all before he was 30. Jones's last main role (he did have one small role in the 90s) was in David Lean's Ryan's Daughter, then he suffered a nervous breakdown. Jones was a good friend of Sharon Tate and her death hit him hard; supposedly Tate was going to divorce Roman Polanski to be with him.

He also starred in the cult classic Wild in the Streets as a rock singer who is elected President then tries to have everyone over age 30 put away. Another cult favorite of mine was Three in the Attic, in which he cheated on three women who got their revenge on him by locking him in the attic and forcing him to keep "making whoopee" with them. Quentin Tarantino offered him a role in Pulp Fiction but he turned him down.

Age 72.

I'm not familiar with this actor, but SSS's story about his breakdown after Tate's death makes me sad. Jake Plummer was never the same after Pat Tillman's death, and one of my former co-workers lost pretty much everything -- fiancee, job, home -- after one of his favorite teachers from high school was killed in the Columbine mass shooting. He quit his job here, saying he was going lo move back in with his parents in Littleton for a while. He severed ties here, and as far as I know, none of his local friends knows what became of him.
