Because one year ago today, I set sail....

March 2008

We arrived in Miami around 8.30 pm, on Sunday March 9, 2008 and headed off to the Downtown Marriott Hotel. After a bite to eat, and a couple of celebratory drinks, we headed to bed. Next morning, we were up bright and early to get to the liquor store, before heading to the ship.

At 11:00 AM, we arrived at the Pier in Miami, and had our first look at Regatta. She was absolutely gorgeous. She has a total of 11 decks, 9 accessible to passengers. She can carry 684 guests. She is 592 feet long, 83.5 feet wide. She has 5 eating places – the Grand Dining room, Toscana, Polo Grill, Tapas on the Terrace, and the Waves Grill.

Several beverage stations, including Horizons Bar, the Regatta Lounge, The Grand Lounge, Martini’s, and the Waves Bar. One salt water pool, and two hot tubs. At 5:30 pm we had the mandatory safety drill, and at 6 pm we set sail.

Various ship amenities included 2 boutiques, Art Gallery, Library, Mandara Spa, a Fitness Centre, Casino, Medical Center and Computer Center.

We had dinner at Tapas on the Terrace around 7:30 Pm, then adjourned to Martini’s for after dinner drinks. When we returned to our penthouse room (with pull out sofa, it was cheaper than two staterooms) we found a welcome bottle of champers, canapés, and our butler had unpacked for us. :P

We retired at about 10:30, after a long exciting day, and slept the sleep of the righteous.

HA!

I look forward to all the installments!

I especially want to hear about any great food.

And all the other stuff too!

I can't wait to hear more of your story!

Did you go to any midnight buffets?

I assumed that bringing outside liquor was banned.

I thought that was one place the ship could count on making money.

we checked, and they said one bottle per person, to have refreshments in the cabin was okay. They just don't want people having their own drinks elsewhere on the ships

That is very nice of them.

My folks said that when they did their Alaskan cruise, no outside liquor was allowed.

I think I would find non-drinkers and get them to hold a bottle for us.

Happy sailing anniversary, Saucy!

I was wondering how you got that "Last bumped by a1mamacat on Tue Mar 10, 2009 2:39 pm." message in pea's post, after you edited your own message at the top of the thread. Was that automatic by the new phpBB software?

Now that message is gone! Very strange...
