CBS is also reporting that Sheldon has told the NFL, "You're in my spot". More details to follow.

CBS will broadcast eight Thursday night games in weeks 2-9 of the season (the opening Thursday night game will feature Super Bowl champion Seattle and will be televised on NBC). Those games will be simulcast on the NFL network (which means that about three people will watch on the NFL network). Weeks 10-16 (except for Thanskgiving) will still be braodcast on the NFL network, which will also get a Saturday doubleheader late in the season, bringing its total up to eight games as well. Thanksgiving night's game will be on NBC and there will be no Thursday night game in Week 17 (they wanted all the teams to finish their season at the same time).

It's a one-year contract. Jim Nantz and Phil Simms will cover the CBS games.

Thursday night has been the dumping ground for games featuring bad teams. I'm not sure CBS wants to pony up big bucks to telecast Jacksonville vs. Cleveland.

Good News. I just wish they had gotten the NFl network completely out of the picture with game broadcasts.
I felt the change

Time meant nothing and never would again

The big networks are paying for better product than what's been on Thursdays recently. They will get good games. Not many as desirable as the MNF or the Sunday night games, but the next tier.

The Panthers host the Seahawks for the third straight season and we are planning on a night game somewhere in there.

Big Bang Theory and the other Thursday CBS shows will not air for those 8-9 weeks, much like Fox shows take off several weeks for baseball playoffs, and just start later.

That's our one surefire primetime game... maybe the Eagles game for MNF too because they've had that matchup twice now.

Nantz and Simms will also work on Sundays at 4:25 games during CBS's doubleheader weeks.

Thursdays will be their "primary" assignment.

One more option:

Big Bang Theory can still run at 8 and the game can start at 8:40 with a ten-minute lead-in.

The other CBS shows will just go on hiatus.

CBS said today they will start Big Bang Theory and Elementary on time on a night other than Thursday, and not wait until November.

They are both highly rated (and BBT cast is highly paid), so that's smart.

That can't be helped, as every team has to play one game on Thursday. That way all the best teams don't have to keep playing on short rest.
