So, Lizbit has already cast her vote for best commercial. Which ones did everyone else like?
No real runaway winner for me, but I kinda liked the Cheerios family "and a puppy" one.
Have luxury sports cars become so popular, suddenly? The start of the commercial with the little girl talking about monsters had me intrigued, but at the end it was just--really, a Ghibi?

I am really upset with mine. They cheaped out so much that they lost the whole message.

The best commercials were the Subaru commercials during the Puppy Bowl. Labs and Goldens driving cars in various scenarios-going to the gas station, stuck behind an old beater going slowly, teenage Lab making out in the car...

I particularly enjoyed the one with the French poodle in the crosswalk, with the driver waiting (and looking) -- followed by the camera pulling back to see another lab in the passenger seat (presumably Mrs. Driver) and a puppy strapped in the back seat, with her kind of giving the driver the canine equivalent of the stinkeye.

I'm not sure which one I like on a traditional level, but there's no contest for the irony award. Time Warner Cable bought a spot. But a whole bunch of Time Warner customers on the west side of Los Angeles weren't particularly receptive to the message because Time Warner's feed of the traditional (as opposed to HD) signal cut out during the second quarter, and wasn't restored until a good way into the third quarter. --Bob

I also liked the Radio Shack ad.
"The 80s called. They want their store back."

The "America the Beautiful" Coke commercial took a little heat.

This was on evil facebook too.
I like hermillion's story about the woman speaking on her cell phone while waiting in line for a coffee or something. When she finishes her call the fellow tells her this is America, and she should be speaking English. She say "Pardon?" He says...very slowly "If you want to speak Mexican, go back to Mexico."
She looks at him and says." I was speaking Navajo. If you want to speak English, maybe you should go back to England."

The commercial offerings last night were mostly about as good as that game they were sandwiched around. The only one that I really liked was the Bob Dylan Chrysler commercial. That one resonated.

My favorite is still the Budweiser Clydesdale ad. I just watched it for about the 20th time.
