Yep, the millions of newly insured are about to find out what bastards insurance companies are. And from what my brother-in-law, a veteran, tells me, government insurance is even worse.

That report has so little information it's meaningless.

Let's not forget what "bastards" the actual healthcare providers are. This is, indeed, a joint effort. Reform requires all providers to rachet their shit down. That's why obamacare is such an abortion of a program. There hasn't been actual addressing of the whole issue.

I want to make sure no one thinks I'm calling out local gps or anything. I think hospitals, labs, anesthesiologist s, group providers of specialized services are horribly overpriced and not well run at times. And, I think the malpractice insurance excuse has run its course.

As you might have surmised, there's considerably more to the story. Seattle Children's is a very pricy hospital that has had problems for years getting insurance companies to foot the bill for some of their charges. There's been considerable bad blood between the hospital and some of the insurers. When the Washington exchange got started, only two out of seven companies offering exchange plans included Seattle Children's and the hospital filed suit with the State Insurance Department trying to get the other five companies thrown out of the exchange. Blue Cross got very upset about it and cited statistics that people could get equivalent care through Blue Cross network hospitals for thousands of dollars less than what Seattle Children's was charging.

If I had to guess, I would guess that what's going on here is a continuation of the same type of hardball that's been played for years between this hospital and insurance companies with innocent kids caught in the middle. Nothing's changed under Obamacare except that the hospital now has a lot of allies they never had before on the right wing.
