Alas, Peter's luck at getting on game shows is no better than mine, as he was not one of the 8 finalists for the "5th Grader Challenge". At least he still has 30 years to surpass my success (or lack thereof). Fortunately, he got it over it quickly. It might have been worse if his friend from Boy Scouts had made it, but he didn't make the top 8 either.
Thanks to everybody who voted. At least we tried.

Yes, some of us were born MAWGs.
Did they disclose the actual vote count, so you can see how close he was to the qualifying threshold?

And others have MAWGdom thrust upon them. I didn't ask to become middle-aged. It just happened.

I have a 57 year old body but it feels like it's 90. My mind however is that of a 30 year old.

I'm on Marley's side - MAWGdom is not a matter of chronological age, it's a matter of attitude. I was a MAWG when I was in my 20s, and I'll be a MAWG well into my dotage.

Sorry, Astro. Anytime we can help, let us know. Sorry it didn't work out this time.

I'd recommend taking out the 'at least' part of you sentence.
Your son went for it. You (and hopefully he) took actions others didn't take. You (and hopefully he) probably even learned some things in the process that you will use the next time.
Stand on the shoulders of this one for the next one. Have this be the springboard.

I'm very sorry.
