If you do a grid @ $5 a box. What is the best split for the quarters?

Depends on your players and their idea of risk/reward. Some like the idea of being able to win the same amount right away as at the very end. In that case, you would do 125-125-125-125. The players who drew 0-3 or 3-0 are in pretty good shape for that pool.
JMHO, each quarter must pay at least $50. You gotta be able to win a little something.
Others like the idea of winning more the longer the games goes on because the numbers change so much -- 75-100-125-200. This is my personal preference.
Other like paying more for the major breaks in the game -- 75-150-75-200.
The football brainiacs around here probably have their own ideas about what's "best." Good luck!
I am now in five pools, chance to win around $1,000 if I win the fourth quarter in all of them. GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest 100-100-100-100-100. Yes, five, to account for the 4th quarter and the final.
The only time I've been in a pool I won 4/5 of it. My coworkers were very pissed.

We decided on 50-150-50-250.
The 250 is for the final score whether it is at the end of the 4th quarter or not.

I kind of like the boards that pay every change in score. So a touchdown will pretty much be 2 score changes 6-0 then 7-0 followed by a FG 7-3 etc. Three score changes 3 get paid. This brings into play a lot of different # combinations that can win. After paying for all score changes the remaining pot is paid on the final score. On a 5$ board you would pay $20/per score change. If for some reason you would have more than 25 score changes you just pay 500 divided by the total # of changes, thus no final pot.

Never been in a pool like that. Definitely don't want to be the one running it!

The ones we did at my bar were always equal amounts of the money taken in paid out for the scores at the end of the first quarter, second quarter, third quarter, and final score.
