I just heard that Daryl Dragon and Toni Tennille of the music duo Captain and Tennille are getting divorced after 39 years of marriage. You know how sometimes you hear a death notice and it is someone you thought was already dead? In this case I thought they would have already been divorced by now.

Hard to believe after 39 years. Maybe one of them had a muskrat on the side.

I had a totally different reaction (as did Mrs. Spiff) -- we didn't know they were ever actually married!
For some reason, both of us had it in our heads that they were one of those couples that "lived together" (back before it was the "norm" or even acceptable) and publicly said they'd never marry; maybe we both juxtaposed them with other SoCal types.
We also had the same second though -- "at this point, why bother?"

Did you know they both played keyboards for The Beach Boys?

They also both sang backup on Elton John's "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me."

It would appear this was being done for healthcare cost reasons. The Captain has some disease like Parkinson's and the care could be rather expensive so this may be an effort to have him qualify for a lower cost treatment. The couple is still sharing the same house.

I have found mixed information online as to whether this is true or not, but here's another piece of C&T trivia for you. Toni Tennille is the only woman credited on Pink Floyd's "The Wall" album. At least, that question was asked at a trivia event the Trivia Knights attended and that is the answer that they wanted.
