If you loved the 70's Mecca style, you're in for a treat today as we take a look at LB's favorite decade, the 80's! I try not to put to many songs from the 80's on my muzak CD's since the point isn't to make my associates happy... but we do need the customers to be occasionally cheerful so they don't gouge out each others' eyes trying to buy the last bottle of Fabuloso. So here is a selection of 80's songs from the summer CD to get you in a gnarly mood.... oh, excuse me....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. She dashed by me in painted on jeans
And all heads turned 'cause she was the dream
In the blink of an eye I knew her number and her name yeah
Ah she said I was the tiger she wanted to tame

2. A man walks down the street
It's a street in a strange world
Maybe it's the Third World
Maybe it's his first time around

3. Moving into the universe
Drifting this way and that
Not touching ground at all
Up above the yard

4. We'll put out to sea and we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy a little bit of gravity

5. Since you've gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night, I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace

6. As you walk on by
Will you call my name
As you walk on by
Will you call my name
When you walk away

7. You come on with it, come on
You don't fight fair
That's okay, see if I care

8. There's a boy I know, he's the one I dream of
Looks into my eyes, takes me to the clouds above
Ooh I lose control, can't seem to get enough
When I wake from dreaming, tell me is it really love

9. I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone

10. He got the action, he got the motion
Yeah, the boy can play

11. Yeah, I love my baby
Heart and soul
Love like ours
Won`t never grow old

12. We are agents of the free
I`ve had my fun and now
It`s time to serve your
Conscience overseas
(Over me, not over me)
Coming in fast, over me

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist you would put on the Mecca CD to represent the 80's.

5 Point Bonus: One of the songs above had two different music videos. The normal video that was rarely shown in America during the MTV era in favor of an alternate (and superior, IMO) video that featured the artist performing the song intermingled with sports clips from MLB, the NFL, and the NBA. Which song was it?

Well, I don't s'pose you can talk about '80's music without mentioning Michael Jackson's "Thriller", can you? Since it's Mecca we're talking here, I think "Human Nature" would fit best.

5 Point Bonus: One of the songs above had two different music videos. I am going with "Walk Of Life". I can't remember what the video was like, but it is a non-American artist, and the lyrics kinda fit in that vague music video way.

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist you would put on the Mecca CD to represent the 80's.

Your love is driving me crazy - Sammy Hagar

5 Point Bonus: One of the songs above had two different music videos. The normal video that was rarely shown in America during the MTV era in favor of an alternate (and superior, IMO) video that featured the artist performing the song intermingled with sports clips from MLB, the NFL, and the NBA. Synthpop, YAY!!!!

(Over me, not over me)
Coming in fast, over me

Orange Crush -- REM. I predict Sprots and Buffacuse get this one.

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist you would put on the Mecca CD to represent the 80's. Let's see, lots of synthesizer, androgynous lead singer, heavy MTV rotation BitD, ... I'll go with Don't You Want Me -- Human League

Walk of Life -- Dire Straits. I, too, preferred the alternate version.

I could easily have brain-farted one or more of these, but if I'm right, this is my first perfecto in many, many moons. I blame MTV. The only one I don't remember being in ultra-heavy rotation there was SRV's song, and he's one of my top 3 all-time faves, not to mention his presence in my cell phone.
