More feedback utterly devoid of content

#1 Post by gsabc » Wed Jan 08, 2014 2:08 pm

So, really good job possibility. Small company with big parent willing to put up the bucks for facility and quality improvements. Very hands-on job as department leader and company quality guru. Company under a deadline for impending retirement of incumbent. Thought interviews went well, despite my being late from traffic issues (for which I apologized profusely and called them before the start of the interview when I realized that I wasn't going to be on time). Didn't hear from them for a couple of weeks.

Finally got information from the recruiter. I didn't get a "yes" or "no" decision. She was told to continue seeking candidates, i.e., they're willing to work without anyone in the position for a while after the incumbent leaves, b/c they weren't "blown away" by my interviews.

WTF does that mean? How does that help me keep my candidacy open or tell me what to improve on with my interviews or needed job skills? Recruiter said that it may indicate a company culture issue, like I somehow wouldn't fit in. That's 100% BS as far as I'm concerned.

I am disappointed, angry, frustrated, depressed, and I don't know how many other negative emotional adjectives right now. I can do this job well. I know it. Apparently I really did need that heavenly choir so they'd have been "blown away".

:(
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Unless their company culture involves knocking over liquor stores in their off hours or holding wild parties during their on hours or both, what company-culture probably means is "you are older than we are". But they're not allowed to say it. Of course.

I sure am glad there are laws that say employers who don't want to hire older workers have to make up some other reason.
