snow/cold days

#1 Post by lilyvonschtupp26 » Mon Jan 06, 2014 1:35 pm

for the first time since I've been teaching, I have today and tomorrow off due to cold weather. we have about 20" on the ground, but it's the temp of -14 with a wind chill of -44 that's sealed it. To all my friends who are in warm weather, please send it our way!

I think we already have. It was 60 when I got up this morning. Tonight it's supposed to be 10 (and windy to boot).

Stay safe and warm, Lily. Sirge thinks we're wimps. I guess he wants to return to those glorious days of enough transportation funding so that we didn't have to worry about 5-year-olds out waiting for a bus in subzero temperatures.

I think we got Spiffs weather a half-day in advance. It was about 60 late last night when the rain started moving through. Overnight it turned to ice, then snow and now we are in the single digits.

Everything around here is closed today and tomorrow.

It's like that here on the other side of Lake Michigan. Around here, it's -11 degrees (air temp) with a wind chill of -35. BRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

As you can imagine, every school in the area was closed today, and many are going to be closed tomorrow as well. They even closed Western Michigan University-which rarely closes. Many local businesses were also closed. They even closed the public library. Where I live, we got 11 inches of snow yesterday, and several more fell today. We're still under a winter storm warning until 7am tomorrow.

I'm waiting for the January thaw to come and melt all of this snow!
