Airline hold

United cancelled my flight from Newark to Ithaca, automatically rescheduling me for the same flight one day later (Saturday morning instead of Friday morning). Meanwhile, they still show my flight into Newark as being on schedule, despite the snowstorm. Assuming the flight does get there, I'd rather not spend a whole day stuck at Newark airport in a snowstorm.
So, I'm on hold trying to change my other flights to tomorrow, instead of today.
Estimated hold time on the phone...
60 minutes.

Well, it wasn't that long on hold. And once I got through and the agent searched for flights that still have empty seas (which are rapidly disappearing with all of today's rescheduling) and after turning down one option that still left me in Newark all night and one that would have left here at 6 am, I've got my new reservation leaving
Sunday evening and arriving in Ithaca on Monday morning.
So I've got three extra days in sunny California instead of in snowy Upstate NY.
I'm content.

Win win situation!
AD is saying on Evil Facebook that his high for Monday is supposed to be -14.
I can't even imagine that.

The night I left Wisconsin for good, the low temperature (in Madison) was -26. My departure was delayed for the better part of an hour because the locks on my car were frozen shut. --Bob

Things

What a pain that you couldn't do the change online.
Are you going to Calif for any type of game show tapings?

There was supposed to be a "Change Flights" button on the web page, but that wasn't showing up for me. That's probably a glitch because they had already changed one segment of the flight. But, yeah, that would have saved a lot of effort.
I'm in California visiting MarleysSister, MarleysBIL and MarleysNephew for the holidays.

When we moved out of our house on New Years Eve 1997 the temperature was -40 with the wind chill. We then got frozen in by the worst ice storm in history, our hotel stay was extended for a week

At least you didn't have to specify whether that was Celsius or Fahrenheit.

Congrats.
There's supposed to be a new storm system coming in Monday, but they're predicting that in Boston, anyway, it may be rain instead of snow. Don't know 'bout Ithaca; it it's even on the new storm's route.

Yeah, there's snow forecast on Monday in Ithaca, too, so I may be back in the same situation then.
Continuing to reschedule the flights until around April wouldn't be all that bad...
