That it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten

3. I've been washed down the sink of your conscience
In the theatre of your love I lost my part
And now you say you've got me out of your conscience

4. Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died,
Give me, give me one more chance to keep you satisfied,
If I made you feel second best,
I'm sorry, I was blind.

Who are laughing at the hippies
Who are praying they’ll get out of there alive

Bonus Instrumental: This bluegrass tune was first recorded in 1959, but rose to prominence when it was featured in the 1968 movie Bonnie and Clyde. The duo behind this tune, whose band bore a name quite similar to this song, brought bluegrass to the mainstream and the banjo player is one of my musical idols as well as being directly responsible for me wanting to take up the banjo. Name the duo and their song.

Bonus Bonus: The above gentlemen became well known a few years before Bonnie and Clyde, authoring a well known tv theme in the early to mid 60’s and appearing on the show as themselves several times. Give the show and its classic tv theme song.

Super Bonus: The star of the above named television show got his start in movies musicals back in the 30’s, alone or with his sister. One of his better known partners sang and danced with him in a great number called “At the Codfish Ball”. Who was this young lady and what was the name of the movie?

I really, really tried to keep C&W weekend from hitting the Bored, but I just had to keep that consecutive posting streak going, so I had to puff the Bored back to life....

OK, I really have no control over that, but it never hurts to make people think I do....

Present.

HELLO WALLS - FARON YOUNG

Also Willie Nelson, as there are twelve songs in the known universe that Willie did not write, and this is not one of them.

2. How many times have you heard someone say
If I had his money I would do things my way
But little they know
That it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten

SATISFIED MIND - PORTER WAGONER

To me, this is first and always a Porter Wagoner song. I had no idea Bob Dylan did it (and I consider myself a fan), but I see he only did it once and that was during his come to Jesus phase, so that explains it. I thought people might be getting it confused with Johnny Cash's It Ain't Me Babe (which he did fabulously), because I didn't think JC did this, either. Come to find out, he did! Once, on the Kill Bill soundtrack.

3. I've been washed down the sink of your conscience
In the theatre of your love I lost my part
And now you say you've got me out of your conscience

FLUSHED FROM THE BATHROOM OF YOUR HEART - JOHNNY CASH

Now, here's Johnny! (lb, you know C&WW can't be legal if there isn't a Cash song.) This has a special place in my life. BITD, my dad actually made an guitar out of a toilet seat. And he'd play it when his band did this song. The intro was always included, "and, with Tom playing lead on the commodian...". I'm not kidding.

4. Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died,
Give me, give me one more chance to keep you satisfied,
If I made you feel second best,
I'm sorry, I was blind.

YOU WERE ALWAYS ON MY MIND - WILLIE NELSON

His voice has never been more beautiful (and, as I've mentioned elsewhere, I love his voice) than it was here.

5. Country deejays know that I’m an outlaw
And they’d never come to see me in this dive
Where bikers stare at cowboys
Who are laughing at the hippies
Who are praying they’ll get out of there alive

LONGHAIRED REDNECK - DAVID ALLEN COE

6. I stop to see a weepin willow cryin on his pillow
Maybe he's cryin for me
And as the skies turn gloomy, night winds whisper to me,
I'm lonesome as I can be...

WALKIN' AFTER MIDNIGHT - PATSY CLINE

7. And if you took the petals
And would tear them all apart
You'd be tearing up the roses
Just the way you tore my heart

ROOM FULL OF ROSES - MICKEY GILLEY

8. But if you love him you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him, be proud of him
'Cause after all, he's just a man

STAND BY YOUR MAN - TAMMY WYNETTE

I'm also counting the Blues Brothers, because their version ROCKED!

9. Such a beautiful dream
I hate to think it's all over
I lost my heart it seems
I've grown so used to you somehow
I'm nobody's sugar daddy now

LOVESICK BLUES - HANK WILLIAMS, SR.

10. That shiny old bus is a beautiful sight
With the black smoke rolling up around the tail lights
It may sound kinda cruel, but I've been silent too long

THANK GOD (AND GREYHOUND) YOU'RE GONE - ROY CLARK

Bonus Instrumental: This bluegrass tune was first recorded in 1959, but rose to prominence when it was featured in the 1968 movie Bonnie and Clyde. The duo behind this tune, whose band bore a name quite similar to this song, brought bluegrass to the mainstream and the banjo player is one of my musical idols as well as being directly responsible for me wanting to take up the banjo. Name the duo and their song.

LESTER FLATT AND EARL SCRUGGS - FOGGY MOUNTAIN BREAKDOWN

Sadly, my banjo fell victim to a basement flood before I got my Scruggs Tuners so I was never able to fulfill my dream of playing Flint Hill Special.

Bonus Bonus: The above gentlemen became well known a few years before Bonnie and Clyde, authoring a well known tv theme in the early to mid 60’s and appearing on the show as themselves several times. Give the show and its classic tv theme song.

THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES - THE BALLAD OF JED CLAMPETT

Super Bonus: The star of the above named television show got his start in movies musicals back in the 30’s, alone or with his sister. One of his better known partners sang and danced with him in a great number called “At the Codfish Ball”. Who was this young lady and what was the name of the movie?

CAPTAIN JANUARY with SHIRLEY TEMPLE

I loved this movie when I was a kid. I think the Slim Summerville scene might be responsible for me deciding that, when I was old enough, I was going to get tattoos, even though (at the time) I was neither a sailor, a biker nor a slut.

I'm very impressed that you worked backwards, nelly! As in my QOD bonuses, I try to make them so that is possible.

Less players even considering it's C&WW, but I kind of expected that what with it being posted late combined with Easter weekend.

POINTS

No Marley and a participation point for KT? Caro, you didn't even try, did you? Dude, even nelly rocked the triple on this one (and there was even two bonus question involving movies!). lb got extra humour points because he pulled Dolly Parton out of his ass and plopped her down on the Porter Wagoner song and I liked that.

Full disclosure: no, I really didn't try. I ALWAYS at least attempt it, but it was late on Sunday, I was tired as hell after eating wayyyyyyy too much (got back on my diet today, but had to skip the treadmill, so I'm jonesin'), and I just didn't have the strength. I did consider "The Beverly Hillbillies" but threw it out becuz I'm an idjit.

But frankly, I couldn't even get up the strength to pull out my list of all-time worst C&W titles (the one I used last week for my semi-humorous answers), and seein' as the theme was my least favorite style of music (I just can't stand about 99.999% of C&W, the last 0.001% being Lyle Lovett and about 3 Emmylou Harris songs, but I don't consider either of them to be C&W strictly speaking), I just decided to bag it.

I promise to at least use my funny C&W titles list next weekend.

Crud. I remember looking at this on Sunday and drawing a blank on the answers...but I guess I forgot to post a participatory joke answer.
